Our OS is based on Ubuntu, not on tcosproject. Thanks for pointing us to
them - we didn't even know that this project existed. I guess, we'll
have a look at what they have to offer. In fact, openthinclient.org once
had an internal working title of TCOS - which would have created a mess,
hadn't we changed the name.

Being able to run third-party applications is one of main goals of
openthinclient. We already integrated a number of applications to run
"natively", i.e. directly on the client, for our ThinClient OS, e.g. the
GUI for the SAP ERP system, document management clients and others.

In order to run applications on the ThinClient there are several
options. Some simple applications may be run in a quick-and-dirty way by
making them available from a user's hone directory. However, we are
currently in the process of making our package build environment
available, so that other users can build proper packages, which can then
be installed using the package manager. The progress of this effort is
tracked here: https://issues.openthinclient.org/otc/browse/SUITE-27. Add
yourself to the watchlist of this issue to get notified about the progress.
