Indeed.  Part of the solution is to reduce as much as possible the
linkage between the squashfs/jffs2 part of the boot and the rest of the
boot after pivoting.  E.g. just before pivoting, we should make sure
there's no daemon running any more (e.g. udev/hotplug).
This makes it easier/possible to upgrade the firmware separately from
upgrading the ext-rootfs.
