I don't think we know that at all. There is some evidence that healthcare providers are way over educated and way too expensive. One can become quite competent at setting bones, for example, without even a high school education. The assumption is that medical services are universally so sophisticated that consumers simply can't choose effectively. I would like to see that tested, though I wouldn't necessarily volunteer to test it myself. It is clear that medical professional do use their control of access to the profession to jack up wages. -- Seven Deadly Sins?
