Hmm... even if this is true to some extent, it is: (a) a much bigger problem in the private medicine sector than in the public sector (b) a much smaller problem than analogous problems in the world of law and finance to name but two However, as someone largely outside of medicine, I suspect that you may not appreciate the complexity of medicine even where simple patients and simple procedures are concerned. Sure, you can train a technician to do some of the stuff that doctors are allowed to do (such people are sometimes referred to as nurses, perfusionists, physiotherapists, dieticians, midwives etc.), but these people do not *replace* doctors (they help them) and you can be sure that in the age of "health management", the CFOs of hospitals and hospital groups are dong their damndest to minimise the number of doctors they need on their staff. After all, if he kicks out a couple of doctors, the CFO has probably saved enough to pay himself about 20% extra. _______________________________________________ OSX-Nutters mailing list | [email protected] http://lists.tit-wank.com/mailman/listinfo/osx-nutters List hosted at http://cat5.org/
