without wishing to defend the conspiracy theorists in this particular
case, I don't like this razor much at all. It essentially demands that
stupidity be ruled out before malice can even be considered.
Consideration of the razor provides an unbeatable trump card to all
those wishing to cover anything up for any reason and gives lets say
"borderline objectivists" a little push towards "compliance". We can
all agree that the vast majority of conspiracy theories are hokum, but
if we just "adhere" (like good acolytes) to Hanlon's Razor, we'll
never give *any* alternative theory a chance.
