well i bought some just for curiosity ahhaha
but i never turned it on
in manual the range is about 10meters (good for a house in my opnion) may be
more without walls
but you can send a usb cable and put a usb-bluetooth dongle in top of your
house if you don´t want many cables...
there´s some rf-usart devices too but i must find them at ebay
for longer distances, you could use a usb-network(wifi or ethernet)
converter, and after another network-usb(wifi or ethernet) or a usb-serial
device (like ser2net)

well i must test the bluetooth - serial device, but i think we will need
some AT commands to comunicate with owfs, if not i think it work as a single
virtualcom (/dev/ttyS0) port at linux kernel, must check
