Agreed. The server is the bottleneck. We run on decent hardware, dedicated 
mysql server, php accelerators etc… still...

If that's all to no avail, put your ownCloud installation (not the data store!) 
on the fastest HD or better an SSD or RAM disk (the latter requiring some 
scripting on your side). Together with the improved journal code in ownCloud 
client 1.5, you should see a pretty significant improvement.


Well, I think that the server team must do some big efficiency improvements in 
the future. Optimizing by faster hardware is good for optimizing but not for 
tackling huge inefficiencies in the design ;-)
I think many people are waiting for these optimizations to happen…

10MB block of file greater than 10MB takes 3 seconds for that. So given I have 
enough bandwidth I believe I would profit using concurrent uploads. I have 350k 
files to upload, and 10 days later I managed to get 30% uploaded ;) And I 
repeat link speed is guaranteed gigabit.

I agree that we ultimately should have parallel uploading.
