The problem is..."You Guys arn't Artist, or don't consider yourselves one." When you make stuff, and your pay check comes from what you make, like software, you wanna get paid; you wanna eat. It takes a long time to produce a song...and everyone on this list should know, it takes even longer to produce a good piece of software...
People who are smart, have talent, should be compensated; this goes for all fields.
I think the "Music should be free" people are just pissed cause they suck, or don't have the balls to try....shit, everyone on this list dreams of making cool software and making money too. Do you want me to steal your shit?

Since this is a nexus for the p2p crowd, it struck me that we could
explore the strawman without having to go anywhere. I'm not looking for
opinions to confront, disprove, or argue with, by the way. I'm looking
to explore the truth of the famous strawman.
That's why this conversation is the opposite of off-topic. It is very
specific to the group.
