yeah, i think it was a little bit harsh - i for one, who often help
out people here definately have been sharing a lot of code and ideas
to fellow developers. some of these developers have turned into very
professional developers (pity they dont acknolwedge that) :)

i remember my first days back here in early 1999 - i got a few helpful
posts from Tom Zerucha, Dave Lippincott, Mitch Fawcett, Michael Davis,
Jun-Kiat Lam, Murray Dowling and many others.

hmm.. some names have died off the mailing lists since then - makes
you wonder what they are doing these days.. :)

Murray Dowling posted the classic comment:

---
Events are like snail mail - you do what you like with those intended
for you, but you pass on those not meant for your eyes. Your code is
a gross violation of the Postal Act :-)
---

:) oh boy.. how things have changed since those times - i, used to be
the stupid, "why doesn't this work, somethings wrong" type of person
at one time too - i was also in that classic

'understand what you are doing before you try it'

group of people :) we all start there *g* the tools are much better
these days however, much easier to install, and to work with. those
who even remember prc-tools 0.5.0 - memories :)

hmm.. archives.. nasty threads back there :) boy, wasn't i nasty :)
i stepped into a very strong mac developer group - and, i was very
anti-mac :) heh. those who where around probably remember those
threads - how times have changed.

i agree. surely, i dont have time to post to palm-dev-forum, but,
i work 90+ hours a week, and i squeeze in the occasional time to
post some tips/assistance to developers - in my OWN TIME. no-one
pays me to post here, i get the maillist feed, and if i feel for it
i go ahead an answer.

each of us also have our own code examples on our websites. i for
one have had cube3d/burning available for quite some time; if anyone
wants it, it is pretty easy to find. i know the idea of putting it
all in a central location is nice - but, it takes time/effort which
none of us can spare.

you'll also find out that there are more than one forum here :)
i have posted a bunch of helpful tips/hints on PNOlet development
using gcc on the pnolet-forum. people should really be looking in
the right place for stuff - not say "help me, urgent"

part of being a good programmer is being able to find stuff :)
