You can avoid warping on any kind of lamination if you laminate symetrically.
Always glue a blank sheet of the same cardstock as the pattern sheet to the
opposite side at the same time. Everything will stay flat. I do all my
lamination between two 1"-thick pieces of 11-ply birch plywood (very stable,
very flat, very smooth) with 25# lead blocks for pressure. Oh, and don't
forget the waxed paper!

If you use foam-core laminate both sides and lay it on a flat surface with a
board on top until dry to prevent warping.

Laminating card stock on to a ½ “white pine plank will warp when the glue
dries.

  Another choice would be macionite.

  Matt,

Rick has a valid point. Foam-Cor has a tendency to warp. If there are enough
vertical vs. horizontal, right angle formers, this may not be too much of a
problem but why take the chance?

As I said previously, 3/8" seems pretty thick. I'd suggest checking out some
ship builds to see what others are using.

the foam won't, but the paper will

I have seen pieces of foam core warp almost into a tube, because of the paper

how Thick are those laminated formers?
I am designing a ship and I specified my formers to be 3/8inch thick
  or 9.5 mm
Simply becauase then I can lust laminate it to foamcore instead of
  building up from cardstock,
Any opinons for or against foam core?
  Thanks
