> [Cough] full [Cough] Mac OS X support. No, not true. Just because you can install and run Mac OS X out of the box doesn't mean it is _fully_ supported...
Sorry, Apple has publicly stated several times that owners of the original G3s are out of luck when it comes to certain features, including DVD playback and graphics acceleration. If you go out and buy a PCI card to get the graphics acceleration back, that's skirting the issue. PCI video cards, while they work, aren't officially recommened as a way to obtain QE by Apple. I've followed this issue with interest as an owner of the original beige G3 266 AV minitower. There's a whole bunch of people out there contemplating legal action (including class actions) against Apple claiming that Apple marketted the original G3 as being fully functional in Mac OS X. They want Apple to release drivers for the ATI Rage II+ and Rage Pro graphics chips for video acceleration under OS X. Apple effectively told them to piss of. Of course, I would personally like graphics acceleration, but I'm not going to sue anyone for it - I didn't buy my Mac for OS X anyhow. OS 8.1 was still the game in town when I bought mine.
