Hi again. Problem solved. A troublesome long distance call to Lexmark finally got connected but not through. The Mac environment line was answered by a brain dead techie who denied he was Mac savvy when asked. He also had an obvious windows orientation to the world. I had to dance around his repeated request for processor speed as that would have ended the "help". He kept insisting though that this was a Mac OS error message and not from Lexmark. A talk with the supervisor lead to a similar ring around the rosie. However she did ask about my extensions. She wanted me to talk to the " Mac tech " but I declined.
I did a Search for everything under printer. I did find that the printer manager script extension was in the system folder /scripting additions folder and not in the extension folder/ scripting additions folder. I changed this and loaded up the biggest PDF file I could find. No " Disk is full " error ! So Lexmark Tech Support did help me in spite of themselves. A word more about their website. Every time I tried to get rmail support after not finding any help in their FAQ section the site reported that my browser (NS 4.79) was making an invalid request. I love my Lexmark printer. It prints beautifully. Photos and artwork are great ! And black and white is crisp and clean. Even on quick print. And I can't believe how quiet it is after years of clattering mashines. It's too bad they won't acknowledge that these machines will work with sub G3 Macs given some tinkering. They might sell a few more. It's nice to be able to pick up a printer from Walmart and supplies too. And not have to scrounge for a harder to find SCSI printer. But Lexmark does not make it easy for vintage PCI Mac users to like the company. Adrian D'Alessio -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
