Every G3 upgrade would be very slow if the L2 Cache is not enabled. To enable the L2 Cache you need the drivers that are on the CD you should have got with the card. If you don't have the drivers, you might try downloading G3 Cache Profiler from http://powerlogix.com/downloads/G3G4CacheProfiler1.5.sit Maybe it will work with your card. This is a system extension and a Control Panel. Move them onto System Folder, restart, be sure you have "Backside cache speed ratio" set at 2:1 or something like that (but dont use the highest speed available, it might be unstable). Now you should feel a *big* speed enhancement.... G3 is quite fast for OS 9 use. I have XLR8 G3/300 card and I'm quite happy with it's speed... >> From: "zhmmy harper" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >> Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (PCI PowerMacs) >> Date: Sat, 05 Apr 2003 18:09:30 -0600 >> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (PCI PowerMacs) >> Subject: Re: Actual speed of computers >> >> >> Are you as a human being actually capable of keeping up with even a 100mhz? >> There will always, forever and ever, be a faster and prettier computer.
