As for 802.16; that is so ridiculously overpowered for home use it's not even funny.
That's what people said about 10base ethernet in the home a few years ago.
Besides, I might *want* to heat up my hot dog by waving it in the air over my computer!
Given that 99% of home users don't have network connections to the outside world faster than 802.11b, going to 70mb/sec solution is shooting gnats with a howitzer.
That's changing. Bells efforts to tank the cable and power industries efforts notwithstanding, look at the towns that are building FTTB and FTTH networks. 100 Mbps bi-directional to the home... Now if you want to share that within your home, you'll need a 820.16a type WAP. Maybe with a power knob that doesn't go to 11 tho.
If you need that kind of speed to slog files around your own network, go wired.
We'll need that speed to actually do those things they show in the Comcast High Speed Internet commercials. You know, the ones that get the asterisk and fine print saying "simulated".
