Its an old dual-Pentium based on a ServerWorks chipset. I purchased it in
the mid '90's; It was my first dually, and the first PC I ever had that
used DIMM's instead of SIMM's. Its run rock solid for all these years -
more than I can say about the other duallies I've purchased since.

Initially. It didn't take long to figure that one out :-)

That's what I thought originally too. But if I do, why is it running
flawlessly now? Again, the 7500 I have runs ok with the 4k chips, its only
this 7600 that has a problem. If there was something _wrong_ with the MB,
wouldn't I see other strangeness? I leave the machine on 24/7, and it
hasn't crashed in more than 2 weeks with the 2k chips, where as I can't get
it to run for more than an hour or two with the 4k chips.

I have put these DIMM's in my 7500 and its run ok with them. I just didn't
leave them in it...

I have several PCI Macs, and this is the ONLY one that I have had this
problem with.

I dunno what to think.
