FWIW mine runs 24/7 as a router/firewall an, with the side door fan disabled and a single 9GB Seagate Barracuda in the front middle bay it's extremely quite, although i have also replaced the PSU with a like-new unit. I also have a B&W with a G4 and a G4 iMac and both those are solid as houses. I don't have problems with newer machines at all. However the 9600 is, IMHO, one of the greatest Macs of all time, at least design wise.
