[PCI] When ethernet ports go bad.

I have a 7600 on a local network in my home office. Over a week ago 
it stopped connecting to the ethernet network - both for Appletalk 
file sharing and my internet connection through a router and cable 
modem setup.

I dug out an AAUI adapter and have it up and running as normal again.
QUESTIONS:
1. Any idea why it suddenly went bad in the first place?
2. Is there anything special I should look for when I get around to 
inspecting it visually? (I am thinking one of the connector pins on 
the port is out of alignment.)
