I have a 7600 on a local network in my home office. Over a week ago it stopped connecting to the ethernet network - both for Appletalk file sharing and my internet connection through a router and cable modem setup.

I dug out an AAUI adapter and have it up and running as normal again.

QUESTIONS:
1. Any idea why it suddenly went bad in the first place?

They seem to just be particularly sensative both physically and electrically.

I have four 7xxx-class Macs sitting here right now with bad RJ45 ports. And I have two others with totaly blown NICs.

2. Is there anything special I should look for

Check for bent pins, dirt, loose board connections, etc. Worth a try a least...
