Hi, PCI Macs. I just joined the list*... help! anyone? Not even a SadMac. I get reg. bong and p/s is working but get no further than gray screen and a live cursor. Tried other HD's in it + ext. drive. TechTool CD goes in, won't mount. Reseated all/8 DIMMS, Sonnet G3/300 daughtercard- tried orig. 180Mhz card. I had RAM chip pairs in A-1+A-2, etc. but have them interleaved now- A-1+B-1, etc. Correct? Zapped PRAM (batt. ok), held Shift key down... nada. Switched monitors, checked all connectors. Rem'd. USB and PC cards, SCSI conn. and other non-basics for trials. It's worked well since I got it 9 mos. ago, even better w/G3 d/cd upgr. OS 9.1 in int. HD, ID#2, no terminator. Other HD's used both int.& ext. w/OS7.6 - 8.1; dunno if term. was on or off, when ea. was in the chain. If both ends not term'd. could it cause m/bd. dmg/slowdown/confus'n? Trouble started 'ab. time of dn/ld' of two large .jpegs/550k&650/and GraphicConv. said "unknown format"- downhill shortly after. Only probs. before were int. ZIP100 and floppy drives refused to eject, occasionally. 'No start-up problem' not found/covered in old MacSecrets book, etc.
