Don't think you can create new partitions without wiping the drive. If
someone has done this I would like to know.
Therefore, backup your data to a reliable drive or backup media. And if you
can back up once again to an alternate media or drive. Then partition the
original drive and restore your data.

The original post only asked if there was a free program to partition
IDE drives.
You know, like one of those stories that is only revealed one piece at a time.
I think a month ago a mention was made of 3rd party software that
would partition without nuke 'n' pave. But I doubt if it was free.
I have N "n" P ed enough to know by now, backup or the data dies !
