Dear Glen, I really don't have any other media to use as backup except Zip Discs & unfortunately mine are all 100's, so won't hold much. I will just hope that my original HD on the 6500 stays "intact" until I can partition the external HD & recopy to it. I could lose a lot of files, but as far as the programs, I have discs that I could reinstall from. I would hate to lose some of my personal files, but I could survive without them. Ginny
