Yes, some recommend it off. I have forgotten if I have ever seen one that won't run with it on? Mostly these pgms have their own scratch disk systems but the issue here is hd space. VM can use up tight resources. But the situation is different if you have plenty of hd space. But i concede there may be some programs that really hate the very existence of VM.
