well I am not an expert on hds but if just some parts of the filetree
are damaged on that disk, that suggest that the data is intact
somewhere else on the same disk. and then disk first aid,
diskwarrior, and diffrent norton application can help,
although to run nortons unerase you need to have an extra disk to
save what you have rescued or there will be the risk that you will
overwrite data that was not yet recivered.
old hds are paractically given away around here - but I dont reside in the US -
a second partition is really great just for keepin emergency tools on.
diskwarrior wont repair the startup partion at all,
and norton says it sometimes does a better jobb residing on another
partition - that has its own start up system on it.
a partion with norton and diskwarrior takes about 25 mb containing os 8.1
k
Good News though, a quick check of the Software Shelves and I discovered
that I have a copy of Norton Utilities for PowerMac, which includes Disk
Doctor and Unerase. I might read through the manual, but if I didn't have it
on separate partitions does that mean I am stuffed.
Thank you for the help so far,
Ben Pazolli
