Thanks, Linda, but this didn't work. I now notice that I can't even type an email message in Outlook Express. The last active field I can access is the "subject" one, when I compose a new message.
Since this computer has the default Win98 SE version of IE, its uninstallation too is disabled, so I cannot even repair it as Jeff suggested. Beats me what could turn IE/ OE to a read-only mode. The security settings seem ok. Maybe I'll try installing either IE 5.5 or IE 6 if nothing else works. Thanks anyway..:) Ariya ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Johnson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, October 15, 2001 11:59 PM Subject: RE: PCWorks: IE5 problem : Hi, Ariya........try going to Tools>Internet Options and deleting the : Temporary Internet Files, then close IE and reopen it and see if the problem : is solved....if not, go back there and delete the History files and see : again : : If neither of these fixes it, try deleting your Windows temp files.....if : you don't know how to do that, I have a tutorial on it here: : : http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/deletingtempfiles.htm : : good luck! : : Linda : Linda's Computer Stop : http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/ : Editor, ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers : http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/ABC.htm : Online Instructor, Eclectic Academy : http://www.eclecticacademy.com/index.htm : : : -----Original Message----- : From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On : Behalf Of Ariya : Sent: Monday, October 15, 2001 1:02 PM : To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] : Subject: PCWorks: IE5 problem : : : Facing a strange problem with IE5.
