Marlene, I tried to re-install the LPT port but it does not have that option in the ports to select from. The device manager also does not show the LPT port only com 1.

This is not my computer but a friends. They have Win 98 and we installed a different printer and its driver which worked on my Win98 systems just fine. Now when we look at printers the Epson 640 is dimmed and when I go to device manager and choose ports I do not see the LPT1. I have tried capture to no avail and I am not sure if the port is defective all of a sudden or what. I also disconnected the port from the back of the computer which also did not help. I also reinstalled the drivers for the Epson 640 which also did not help. I will change the cable next. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this. It worked the day I installed it.
