To one and all, This one is one that I was not aware until today I was having and is now giving a MAJOR problem I found out.
I just realized, this morning, that no matter what file or directory is getting put on my Windows 98 system, the time and date of the item is the exact time and date of the system itself. With downloads from the internet or similar this is not a problem. BUT it came up with the install of a program and then trying to patch to the latest version - all the files and directories of the program instead of being the same as the original on the CDs were the same as the system time and date. So the patch does not see the files as being the same as were the same as on the CD, and the patch is failing. This never was a problem in the past, so something has set something on my system to have it do this with everything that is getting put on the system, no matter what the source. Does anyone know what setting, whether set by control panel or directly in the registry or what, that I can set to get it back to where it needs to be with regard to time and date stamping of files??? I sure dont know where to look at this point, since can not find the info in my reference books or at Microsoft's support site.
