In the "Immunize" area, that's a "real time" protection. Meaning, the instant something tries to change your homepage (or any bad downloads are sensed), SpyBot will alert you. As least it does in my case. Actually there are 3 areas under "immunize" and it's the THIRD area that must be installed and activated (checked) to prevent hijacking. I also use Spyware Guard & Spyware Blaster, so since I use them also, I can't really say how well SpyBot's anti-hijacking page works now. It has in the past prevented it.
Yes, I've seen all that I use fail, they all fail. That's why I use about 7 of them! Where one fails, one of the others should pick it up.
