No, I think FF does that, it creates the single file.  Now it 
may depend on the type of export used, like if it's special 
program.  These are not needed to backup the Fav's, so I don't 
know why they exist.  FF imports IE Fav's on its own, and I 
think IT is what creates the special single file.

It's my understanding that IE creates the .htm file when
exporting Favorites without using FF or Netscape.  Since I 
don't
have a PC immediately available in which the only browser
installed is IE, I asked the question.
