Vern, when booting from the XP CD to repair Windows, do not select repair
from the first screen but continue setup until the second repair option
appears. This is virtually a new install over the old one without the loss
of any data or programs. You will be required to enter the CD keys again and
choose the install setup as previous. It also takes about as long as a new
install.

When I put the winxp cd in and click on the R it asks what operating system
I'm using giving me only one choice, WinXP and then it goes to a DOS prompt.
Why doesn't it re install Windows?

The config file in windows\system32\config is corrupted and won't boot. Also
some hive in the registry is corrupted. Anyone have a word of wisdom to
help?

Vern
