Well, I no longer allow Microsoft to download fixes without permission.

However, now I get a bubble over my clock: "Updates are ready for your
computer. Click here to install those updates." It doesn't say what updates
are ready. I have no way of knowing whether any of those mysterious updates
are safe.

What's the next stage? How do I know when do download the updates, and when
to avoid them?

Perhaps even before that stage: How do I know the name of the download that
they want to send me?
