It's a desktop computer. This will be a new one for me as I never before had
to look at the BIOS in the l0 years that I've had 3 different computers.
I'll follow your instructions to the letter at the same time creating a
"restore point" before making any changes. Note that most of the time I
don't get those messages. --- Harold

This problem sometimes occurs after the computer is in "hibernation" ...
when coming out of hibernation (I feel like a bear), I sometimes get the
following messages on a black screen:
"Detecting IDE ATAPI device ...
Found CDROM, try to Boot from it ... Fail"
"Detecting floppy drive A media ...
INSERT SYSTEM AND PRESS ENTER"
and those two above messages repeat a few times and that's it. I easily
correct it by just rebooting the computer and it then correctly returns
from hibernation. I'd like to know what those messages mean. Note that
regarding the second message, I do NOT have a floppy A drive. --- Harold
