Bob, Fadel & Maggie,

I tried both of your Acrotray.exe suggestions and like Maggie, it still
seems to be doing the same thing. I too can't see anything unusual in the
url. If we copy the url, bring up a new IE screen and paste the address, the
document comes up immediately.

Maggie and I both appreciate your help. I've also tried changing the
Registry Editor target. That solved the problem but I was then unable to get
documents to open in Acrobat 6.0 Pro for editing purposes.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Kathy

Kathy,

I believe that Fadel's suggestion to turn off Acrotray is a good one.
However rather than turning off this service try lowering it's priority.
Here's how:

Cntl-Alt-Del and open the Task Manager
Click on the Processes tab
Find Acrotray.exe (manually search the list)
Right click on Acrotray.exe
in the drop down box select Set Priority
Change the Priority from Normal to Below Normal
Try to click on the PDF link again.

This may work and doesn't completly turn off the service.

The second possibility that I noticed (this is a personal observation, works
for me all the time but USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK), (when the above update
#813489 is not the case), is that many times Acrotray is running as a
process (even though Acrobat (full or reader) is not running. When I end the
process, and confirm my decision after I get the warning, then click on the
PDF link, the file opens right away.

To end the process (in a win2K environment):
right-click on the task bar,
choose task manager,
choose the middle tab (processes),
sort the processes (by clicking on image name) from a-z,
you should see one of the first processes is called: acrotray. highlight
that process and then click on the end-process button, agree to the warning.
Try to click on the PDF link again.

Good Luck to all. I believe the second one will work.

We've been trouble-shooting the same problem for a couple of weeks with no
clear solution so far. Sure hope someone out there has the answer!

I ran into this problem on numerous occasions and I can't figure out how to
fix it.
Once I upload the PDF file to the web and someone else goes to open it, the
files doesn't open. It just comes up with blank page. The browser says

DONE on the bottom.
I am able to open it though. Anyone has an idea what causes this behavior?

Maggie
