Sounds like some sort of canned response from a "drone"...

*** Note:It appears that the eBook reader file format is different from a "PDF" file

Adobe USED TO have a separate "eBook Reader" application which required special preparation of the PDF (using a tool called Adobe Content Server), but I don't think that is what they are referring to.

I am pretty sure they are just confused...

Their requirements - as stated in their January 15, 2004 e-mail response to my inquiry - state that they require the following: "Unencrypted eBook files in each format supplied (Microsoft .lit, Adobe .pdf, Palm .pdb, Mobipocket) for functionality and editorial quality, using current Reader software tools,"

Which you certainly match...

Consumers or library patrons must be able to navigate through the file using the benefits of its electronic formatting. Consumers should be able to page through the contents, jump from one chapter to another and use the special features of the format software.

Perhaps they want you to be sure to add these "special features" (bookmarks, hyperlinks, etc.) before they will accept your file?!?!?

My follow-up email only hit the same dead end ..that they require that files be compatible with eBook Reader software.

Can't wait to hear their response...
