Aaah - I think it's a problem specific to PDL-2.016.
There's no such issue with PDL-2.015, but 2.016 is apparently not processing 
Utils.pm.PL correctly.

Yes, but kmx originally built P-D-P-0.11 against PDL-2.015 (which is in 
vendor/perl) but I have installed PDL-2.016 into Strawberry (in 
site/lib/perl).
The problem goes away on Strawberry when I revert to the 2.015 that shipped 
with it.

There's a similar looking problem with PDL-Fit-Levmar-0.0098 in that 
Func/func.pd is not being processed.
However, I've yet to verify that 2.016 is to blame for that one.
