Hi Bob,

Thirty years ago I was taught the exact 
opposite: "Treat every frame as though 
it is the only one you've got".  Nothing I
have seen, heard, read or done in the last
30 years has caused me to doubt the
quality of that advice.  

Wasting film is wasting your time.  Take 
a little time with one shot, get it right, 
and you won't need to waste the rest of 
the film in the hope of achieving something
that is merely acceptable.
