The nice thing about the PZ contacts is that they provide a significant amount of current conduction and are not as environmentally vulnerable as are the other pins in the mount. Also, re-engineering the mount again would be even more counter-productive.
It would be odd to see a new lens using the PZ contacts which works better on a PZ-1/1p than on a more modern ZX-5n. Retro hopscotch. But it would be nice to see it come about.
