AF is no faster with USM than with coreless DC motor, but sometimes
possibility to have FTM (full time manual) would be useful and quietness is
important factor for many people.

The *ist's can almost certainly not take IS or USM lenses. An explanation thats likely 
is that Pentax have no immediate plans to implement these features. Another 
possibility is that such features will be introduced at the higher end only. Such an 
approach is not unlikely in an era where electronic features are dirt cheap; there 
must be some features reserved for more expensive cameras only.
