Lexar and Sandisk seem to be the two 'standard' brands. I got a Lexar 1GB 32* and a PQI 512Mb 40* (F1 I think it was called). Both seem fine, but obviously it is early days yet. I have heard that Lexar are one of the few who actually achieve their speed ratings in reality.
We bought PQI USB memory keyrings for everyone at the office 4-5 months ago. 1 failed quite early on, which was a bit concerning, but the rest have been fine so maybe it was just a bad sample rather than a trend for the brand in general. Someone mentioned Lexar working best with their own readers. I am not sure why that would be, but it could be a misunderstanding of the fact that Lexar cards are 'USB enabled' meaning they have the USB interface built into the card which means their 'Jumpshot' usb cables don't need a reader built into them. This means that you cant use other brand cards with a Jumpshot reader. > -----Original Message----- > From: Paul Ewins [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 30 September 2003 04:50 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: compact flash memory cards > > > Does anybody have an opinion on PQI or Sandisk CF cards? > I'm looking at buying a couple of new 512mb cards and these > two brands are readily available on eBay from local > suppliers.
