I just got round to looking at these.  I was a little puzzled, at first,
because Shel doesn't *have* a JPEG picture of me.  What he has is a TIFF,
made from a RAW file.

Those aren't JPEG artifacts (not surprising; no JPEG software was involved).
That's sensor noise, because we were shooting at 1600ASA with noise-reduction
turned off (even then it's a 1/6 second exposure.  Shel has steady hands).
