Hi Andy >I think my film cameras would have >performed rather better, although it was a difficult day for photography and >I haven't done a direct comparison.
are you taking in to consideration that the film latitude/deveoping process would adjsut this using the MZ-5n? >Another feature I'd like is the option for a histogram in the instant >review - the Fuji S2 I use at work has this option and I find it very useful >to glance at the LCD after I've taken the picture without having to enter >review mode. www.dprewiew.com pointed this out too. This should - if possible - be part of the next firmware upgrade! I do love her! It's really lovely to hold, I have to say - although small, it has a good solid feel to it, much better than my MZ-5n. I have very large hands, but I haven't had any problems so far (except see below) - though I haven't tried with gloves on yet. A brief test outdoors on a stormy day with very bright intervals suggests that the matrix metering is a little more wayward than that in the MZ-5n - I had dark foregrounds when appreciable amounts of sky was in the picture, and blown highlights on people's faces. I think my film cameras would have performed rather better, although it was a difficult day for photography and I haven't done a direct comparison. Does anyone know the dynamic range of the sensor compared with transparency film? I've installed the firmware upgrade (I held off on buying the *istD until I could use my non-A lenses) and this works well, although whether I'll always remember to press the green button is debatable. Am I right in thinking that if I use A-type lenses off 'A' I can only use them on M and also have to press the green button? I guess so as the camera doesn't have the aperture linkage. This is a shame as I usually prefer the move the aperture ring than to use the spinwheels - especially as I most often work in Av and I can't fit my big fat thumb between the camera and my face. An update to the firmware might include the option to swap the A and T functions of the thumbwheels around, as I find the front one much easier to use. Another feature I'd like is the option for a histogram in the instant review - the Fuji S2 I use at work has this option and I find it very useful to glance at the LCD after I've taken the picture without having to enter review mode. Can someone explain the behaviour of the exposure compensation when the on-board flash is on? Does this adjust both endogenous and the flash exposures, or only one of these? I apologize if these questions have already come up, but I only rarely find time to read more than a few postings to this list.
