I expect you are right, but I also have heard that it is easier to get good quality scans from negative film.
I can compare the scan to the slide which is priceless, with negatives you can't do
that.
Perhaps that is where my methods differ from most.
I look at the work I am outputting and decide if the colour is acceptable or not.
