There is a small pin on the back of SMC takumars which keeps the
Auto/Manual switch from being
set to Manual when the camera is mounted on a Spotmatic F or ES body.
Normally it should just ride on
the edge of the adapter ring as it's screwed onto the lens. If the
tolerances were at the far ends for the cutouts
on the adapter and the position of that pin, (and I have an adapter,
Genuine Pentax at that, which is very close to
allowing this), then the pin might fall into the cutout locking the lens
onto the adapter and the Auto/Manual switch
into the manual position. The only way I can imagine to safely remove
this would be to disassemble to lens until
you could reach the interlock mechanism from inside. I haven't a clue
how to do this since I can see only three
exposed screw heads on the Takumar and these are probably only set
screws holding the DOF scale in place.

It's stuck, not mis-threaded and I'm a bit at a loss. Does anyone know
how to get this lens off (at this point if it involves destroying the
lens or adapter it's ok!).
Takumar 1.4 SMC lens
Pentax adapter
Pentax Ist DS camera.
I've had this lens on and off before but something is catching this
time. Also, the auto/manual switch is stuck on auto, which must be
somehow related...?
thanks for any tips!
