The biggest disadvantage of the aperture-on-lens setup becomes 
apparent with variable-aperture lenses: you set it to one value at one 
end, it's another at the other end, and that messes with M exposure.

I too have an MZ-S and only shoot film. I had a major clearout last 
month and only kept the MZ-S and the -50, but to me the best interface 
for aperture-shutter was the one of the Z-1p. I did not like it 
otherwise, so it had to go, but that's beside the point.
