I did a lot of black and white work during my college days -  20 years back 
and tried different films.  it was back in india, so all films were not 
available as here in US, however, the 'pattern' would remain same i think.  
point is you need to try different films to see which one gives your desired 
results and for that i strongly suggest you need to do your own work - not 
of film development but also of making the prints.

BTW, which rangefinder you got ?  and out of curiosity, why you went for 
rangefinder ?
