Actually the 4/3 system uses a much smaller sensor than the
Pentax/Sony/Nikon APS-C equivalent sensor cameras use. It's the
standard promulgated by Kodak/Olympus/Panasonic/Leica. To get the
equivalent AOV in 35mm terms you multiply focal length by 2 not just by
1.5, and the sensor is a 5:4 aspect ratio as opposed to the 35mm/APS-C
3:2. I thought this system was a bad idea when it was first described,
(based on the planned sensor size), and I haven't seen anything to make
me like it more. Though the build quality on some of the cameras is
impressive, image quality seems to be what could be charitably described
as relatively noisy at high ISO, and every view finder I've seen on
these cameras can only be described as "squinty".
