I don't think Hoya will close Pentax camera division, especially SLR
one, which is profitabe. And that's what exactly financial analysts
say: "What Hoya should do from now is build on Pentax's strengths in
endoscopes, SLR cameras and optical devices,'' Hisashi Moriyama, a
Tokyo-based analyst with JP Morgan Securities Co., said by telephone.
"Hoya should have no problem raising Pentax's profitability with its
existing products.''

Thanks for link to article, Sylwek.

I agree re cameras. The K100D and K10D did better than many thought they
would. And I agree if Hoya threw some more money behind them it might actually
HELP Pentax. They might become a serious player. Or maybe they will just go
for the medical stuff but not interfere with the camera division. Although I
sort of hope they interfere in R&D and marketing. Well, production too, be
nice
if those lenses on the roadmap got out there sooner rather than later.
Anyway, there is really no reason for them to axe them now when they are doing
well. Down the road it might become a different story, but that could still go
either way, up or down.
