Oh, yes, it would just be loads & loads of fun to download a few 6MP shots
over a 28.8kb dialup connection.  NOT!  Until broadband becomes widely
implemented, the practice of sending digital pictures through email will
continue to be the pits.

Your assumption being ~EVERY~ person you might want to share an image

has a computer. If not, you digital image is homebound. And
long-distance 
slide shows will bore your parents just as if they were sitting in your 
living room, with the exception they can turn your electronic "slide
show" 
off when they want.
