That water trick is also the setup for Initial D, the japanese
animated series and graphic novel series about illegal backroads
racing that is responsible for much of the popularity of drifting
today. The main character had spent a couple of years delivering Tofu
for his dad, who made him take a cup of water on the dash and not
spill it. Unbeknownst to the main character, his dad had been a famous
and successful) street racer in his youth.
