Is it really that bad in US? Or these paranoia series are just some very well chosen photos to show problems there?
It's worse some places than it is in others, but yes, it's that bad or soon will be.
The "housing bubble" bursting that precipitated the crisis didn't include commercial real estate - that's got a bubble all its own, and has the same kind of toxic derivatives the home mortgage market produced.
