Thanks for all of the comments on these two images. I asked for objectivity and I got it.
A few specific responses.... I think Godfrey's "stop, print, and move on" comment was most appropriate. I've spent way too much time on these but I'll probably spend just a bit more to take on board the various suggestions. Most (but there were one or two dissenters!) thought that image #1 was stronger and that lightening the mid tones would help. I think that's fair comment, but I was wary of reducing the contrast between the ridges and troughs (which tends to get washed out very quickly when I apply more than a tad of lightening). Bob and Jack thought that 'the twiggy thing" detracted from the image. Interesting... I originally cropped out that "thing" (it's actually a feather) but thought including it added more interest. Dave B - Snow? What's that?? It's been over 40 deg C here for the last three days! Some snow would be fine.... Ken - thanks for the suggestions cropping the second image. At the risk of spending even more time on this, I'll give it a try. Christine - I haven't read "Tracks" by Robyn Davidson although I've heard of it. I wasn't a great fan of travel writing but recently enjoyed a couple of Bill Bryson's books, so I'll see if I can 'track' down a copy of "Tracks". :-)> Cheers Brian ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Brian Walters Western Sydney Australia http://members.westnet.com.au/brianwal/SL/ > > > > > G'day all > > > > I'm looking for a bit of PDML objectivity with these two images - > > because I've lost mine.
